Abstract: The cyclic oxidation resistance of pack aluminized TiAl-based alloys with additions of Cr, Ni, Nb and Y has been studied . All aluminised materials showed a remarkably lower corrosion attack than the non-coated material. The effect of alloying additions on the microstructure of the coating before and after oxidation was examined. The protective properties of the pack aluminized coating were adversely affected by cracking of the formed TiA13 -phase. The tendency for crack formation appeared to depend on the respective TiAl alloying addition and also on its amount.
